Baja Portalegre. On the eve of the start.

Friday, 30 October 2009 11:32

port_rec1The administrative checks and technical scrutineering were held in Portalegre on Thursday ahead of the start of the final event in the FIA International Cup for Cross-Country Bajas.

This time the seeded crews, including of course Crew #1 of Boris Gadasin and Vladimir Demyanenko, were first to pass the checks, which turned out to be much more comfortable, because allowed to avoid any queues and delays. The G-Force Motorsport duo, having started at 9 am, finished all formalities by 10:30 and departed for the prologue's reconnaissance. Interestingly the superspecial stage, as well as almost the whole route, completely repeats last year's configuration.

port_rec4The day concluded with a briefing for competitors, which was combined with a half-an-hour memorial, devoted to Jose Megre. A documental movie, describing Megre's journeys to Tibet and Tunisia, and his museum, was shown there. Carlos Barbosa, president of ACP, wrapped up the memorial. There was also hung the Board of Memory, which everybody signed in Megre's respect. Boris Gadasin also left his inscription there, reading that Megre had a lot of friends in Russia who still remembered him.

port_rec5Two special stages will be held on Friday, october 30th: a spectators' prologue and a 120 kilometres long section. 65 crews will start Leg1 (minus Carlso Sousa who wasn't able to come to the race). The G-Force Motorsport crew is going to apply a measured approach to their driving. It was initially planned that everything would have been settled by this Baja, so Boris would be able to push hard and check the car's performance on these tracks. But because of the Hungrarian events it was decided to change tactics. The main priority will be the season's results, not the position in this race.
